“Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV)

God’s plan for you includes deep, restful sleep. You may not have considered how much takes place in your heart and your mind at night while you are sleeping.

If in your waking hours you meditate in negative or destructive thoughts, your heart takes those thoughts in, and meditation continues … in the night, demanding attention and replacing restful sleep—which, remember, is God’s idea and His plan for you.

Ecclesiastes 2:23 states, “his heart taketh not rest in the night… this is also vanity,” meaning, of course, that you may not be able to truly rest because your heart and mind are so active, so submerged in vain activity, you cannot rest. Your interior will not allow it.

Restful sleep is God’s idea and is His plan for you.

Amen.
