Today the Church has begun to benefit from the entirety of God’s provision rather than only half. As fifty percent of God’s leadership team, women are no longer suspect because of their God-given leadership ability in areas of His calling. In the same way that patriarchal Israel recognized Deborah’s governance, anointing, and authority to rule, the Church is now recognizing as error earlier religious perceptions of women leaders.

While other religions continue to persecute women and girls—suppressing them through psychological and cultural oppression, through blatant and murderous abuse—the Bible declares God’s view: in the Spirit there is neither male nor female. Therefore, Christians see spiritual gifts in both men and women as gifts created by God for the benefit of all.

Male exclusiveness never was God’s idea, nor is it the Bible model; rather, the Lord created us spiritual beings, male and female, with specific earth assignments, an inspiration and example to mentor leadership callings in our sons and daughters.

Centuries of prayer—plus the inevitable freedom result of God’s unquenchable plan—have opened areas of church leadership to women. That openness allows women leaders to make dramatic contributions—energetic ideas to grow the church, spiritual maturity for tough challenges, and courageous and graceful wisdom to mentor the next generation. Thank God.

Amen.
